Ficosa and the technological business group GMV, have developed a system that will allow vehicles to be shared, in line with the mobility plans the European and Spanish Authorities are working on, which, among other measures, anticipate promoting and favouring vehicles that circulate with more than one occupant. It involves technology that will facilitate the “shared route”. The development of this technology is part of the CENIT “MARTA” Project, led by Ficosa. The system is an application of the know-how that is gaining through this research project.

Lower Saxony’s minister of economy, Mr. Walter Hirche, visited Wilke (Wolfenbuttel – Germany), the Ficosa Group’s company dedicated to the research, development, production, and commercialization of systems and components for commercial and industrial vehicles worldwide.

Ficosa has incorporated Jose Vicente de los Mozos as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company’s Automotive Division. The appointment of Mr. De los Mozos takes place inside the strategic process of diversification towards other sectors linked to the mobility that Ficosa is carrying out, and that will lead, in the next months to the reorganization of the Group in four Areas: Automotive, Aeronautics, Innovation & New Technologies, and Commercial Vehicle and Other Services.

Ficosa and Omron Corporation, a Japanese automotive electronics maker, have agreed to form a joint venture dedicated to the development, production and commercialisation of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology for the automotive sector worldwide.

Tata Ficosa Automotive Systems, a 50:50 joint venture of Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd and Ficosa, witnessed the visit of the Ambassador of Spain, Mr. Ion de la Riva accompanied by Mr. Erik Rovina, Economic Commercial Counselor. The Ambassador was welcomed by the Tata Ficosa Automotive Systems team at Tata Ficosa’s plant located in Hinjewadi, Pune (Mumbai, India).

The Command & Control Business Unit of Ficosa awarded. Ficosa received the GM 2007 Supplier of the Year award for its significant contributions to GM’s global product and performance achievements.

VW, one of the main car manufacturing groups at world wide level, has selected Ficosa to equip two of their future models with antenna systems based on the fractal technology.

Ficosa Advanced Communications Business Unit launches a new set of outstanding external and internal antenna solutions to enable real-time traffic information into portable car navigation systems using Traffic Message Channel (TMC) technology.

The objective of the MARTA Project is to promote research and development regarding the communications between vehicles and between those vehicles and road networks, in order to obtain feasible, safe technological solutions that facilitate the movement of citizens.

The system can support many services and applications including the European Emergency Call system (eCall), safety and mobility applications based on both vehicle-vehicle communication and vehicle-infrastructure communication, services provided by the vehicle manufacturer (call centre, remote vehicle diagnosis, on-road assistance, etc.), fleet management systems, automated toll payments, car insurance single payment systems, vehicle information gathering systems to determine real traffic situations, stolen vehicle tracking devices, automatic payment systems (parking, petrol stations, etc.), navigation and on-board entertainment.

Presents its new products and technologies on Safety, Comfort, Environment and Communications at the Barcelona Interational Motor Show (7th to 17th of June of 2007).

Has been awarded by GM as supplier of the year for its excellent performance, quality and global service during 2006. The presentation of the award took place in Orlando, Florida (USA), within the framework of the fifteenth edition of the gala “Best of the Best”, organized by GM to award its best suppliers on world wide level.
