During the fair, the company will showcase two new products aimed at improving the experience and efficiency of the electric vehicle charging process
The EME VLC will take place in Valencia from March 21 to 23 and will bring together leaders from the automotive sector to discuss the future of mobility
Ficosa, a leading global company dedicated to the research, development, production and marketing of advanced vision, safety and efficiency solutions for the automotive industry, will be one of the key players at the first edition of the eMobility Expo & World Congress (EME VLC). The company will participate in the event as an exhibitor, main sponsor, and through three presentations. The event, which will be held in Valencia from 21 to 23 March 2023, will bring together leading organisations from the sector to share ideas and projects that will help drive the future of mobility.
As a reference in electromobility technology, Ficosa will have its own booth at the fair (C348), where it will showcase some of its latest developments in vision and mechatronics systems, two essential areas for the consolidation of electric and autonomous vehicles. Additionally, during the congress, the company will also present two new products aimed to improve the experience and efficiency of the electric vehicle charging process, which have been developed as part of the European Union’s MARBEL project.
The first product is the Charging Communication Box, an electronic module that allows the car to connect to the electric charging post wirelessly (Wifi) or through the charging hose (PLC) to save time and costs safely for both the user and the charging station operator. Through this connection, users can know, for example, which charger is available or plan the charging time in advance, among other functionalities.
“A single hardware platform has been developed to support different regional communication protocols (CCS2, CHAdeMO, GB/T, or Chaoji), and comply with different cybersecurity standards”, according to Jaume Prat, Director of Ficosa’s eMobility Business Unit.
During the congress, Ficosa will also share with all attendees its new aluminium-based electromechanical system for high-power charging. This high-power electric vehicle battery junction box (AL-HPBJB) allows for ultra-fast charging of up to 350 kilowatts. Normally, these solutions are developed using copper. The differential value of Ficosa’s product is that it is the first system of its kind made of aluminium that allows for ultra-fast charging of the vehicle. The advantage of aluminium is that, in addition to being a very efficient and lightweight material, it is also more affordable. At the same time, due to its geographical availability, aluminium is also a much more accessible resource. This fact also allows this product to be more sustainable, as having a closer distribution network reduces CO2 emissions associated with handling and transportation.
“The automotive industry is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Therefore, at Ficosa, we work to champion this change, putting all our experience and talent at the service of the development of cutting-edge solutions. Through innovations based on connectivity, efficiency, or sustainability, we are helping to rewrite the future and drive electromobility globally,” explained Josep María Forcadell, Chief Technology Officer of Ficoa.
Attendees at the EME VLC congress can learn more about the company’s vision and products from Carlos Abomailek, e-Mobility Advanced Engineering Master at Ficosa, who will participate in two round tables during the event. Additionally, Cristian Casorran, ADAS Cameras Product Manager at Ficosa, will be the protagonist of a presentation explaining the primary role played by advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in improving road safety and advancing autonomous and electric driving.
Ficosa, pioneer in solutions for the vehicle of the future
Through a strong R&D strategy and the attraction and retention of the best talent, Ficosa has positioned itself as one of the main leaders in the race towards the future of mobility worldwide. The company specializes in developing cutting-edge technological solutions in areas that are strategic for tomorrow’s mobility. An example of this is its In-Cabin Monitoring projects, a set of technologies that analyse activity within the vehicle to improve the safety and comfort of drivers and passengers.
Another strategic area for the future of the sector is in the field of vision systems. Ficosa began developing and commercializing vision solutions in 2014, and in less than ten years it has become the fifth-largest supplier of cameras for the automotive sector worldwide. The use of cameras, both inside and outside the vehicle, allows for safer mobility experiences, and is an essential step for the advancement of autonomous vehicles. An example of this is the Surround View System from Ficosa, which, through different cameras and algorithms, offers a 360º view of the vehicle and assistance in parking manoeuvres from any angle.
