During the International Motor Show in Frankfurt (IAA’13), the components provider, FICOSA, will present the first manufactured Battery Management System –BMS –. It consists of a system that allows the user of the vehicle to know at all time the state of the load of the batteries as well as its state of health. Likewise, it includes a formula of thermal management, which makes it possible to support the cells in an ideal range of temperature.
The Spanish company will do this presentation of the BMS integrated in two electric cars of the German Volkswagen. We are particularly referring to the e-up! and e-Golf models. Both electric vehicles can charge the 80% of their batteries in 30 minutes. The first one has a maximum range of 160 kilometers, while the second one can even reach 190 km.
Thus, FICOSA manages in becoming a partner of reference for the German giant in the electric vehicle field, what is a solid proof of its investment in the vehicle innovation. For Xavier Pujol, CEO of FICOSA, “to achieve that a manufacturer of the importance of Volkswagen has backed us for this labor supposes an authentic support and encourages us to continue working side by side with the client to offer a better service”.
With this initiative, the company intends to raise awareness of the work carried out during these months in their factory in Viladecavalls, where nowadays works 1.000 people.
